As we sum up 2010, the first year of LiveResponse as a commercially available service, we feel happy and inspired by the journey we’ve had so far. We must say that this year has reached our wildest expectations. LiveResponse has been presented at the World Expo in China and to the prime minister of the Netherlands, received awards and international media coverage, and been used by people across the world. We are now very excited about 2011, to say the least!

During the next couple of months, you as a LiveResponse user will see some major improvements on the web application. Our main focus will be on usability and user experience, and you will see a complete remake of the application interface, to make it even easier for you to use video at work. We are planning the re-design as this text is written, and will be able to provide you with some more information on this within a month. We will use the blog to publish information and sneak peaks on the new design, as soon as we start working, so check back with us regularly for the latest news.

The LiveResponse partner RESPOND in the Netherlands was yesterday the winner of a Social Innovation Award.

The award was given to Respond for the innovative work of using mobile live-video solutions to improve communication between safety authorities and citizens. Key enabling technologies in the concept called SafeCity are provided by LiveResponse and Bambuser.

We are very happy on behalf of Respond and deeply honored that LiveResponse is seen as fundamental technology for social innovation.

Ntech Consulting, ett konsultföretag i Stockholm med expertis inom bland annat kommunikation och webbteknik, uppmärksammar LiveResponse. Anders Kimfors, stabschef, på Räddningstjänsten i Stor-Göteborg intervjuas av usability-experten Zayera Khan på Ntech kring räddningstjänstens erfarenheter av att införa och använda LiveResponse.

As part of our continuous work on improving and developing LiveResponse, the web application was moved to the servers of our new web host, yesterday. This step is part of the work we are currently performing, to secure the safety of operation and to further enhance the quality of the service we are providing.

The migration will also make it possible for us to further improve the information security within LiveResponse. These improvements will not be presented at this point, but more information will be published as soon as the migration is completed entirely, and we have made sure that the application is running stable in its new environment.

To some of our customers, this migration may have resulted in the service becoming unavailable for some time, yesterday. Due to the design of Internet, some downtime is unfortunately inevitable during a transfer like this. To most of our customers, the service should have been available again after a few hours, but for a few the service might be unavailable for up to 48 hours. Put simple, the migration result in LiveResponse getting a new IP-address. Until the information about this change of address has spread throughout Internet, some users may experience service unavailability, because they are still trying to access LiveResponse through its old IP-address. Unfortunately there is not much you as a customer can do to speed up this process, but the service will become available to you again as soon as your Internet Service Provider (ISP) has updated their system with new address information.

The above information about changed addresses should not be confused with the URL you use to access LiveResponse e.g. www.liveresponse.eu or www.liveresponse.se. The URLs will stay the same, and you will be able to access LiveResponse they same way you always do.

This migration imply no need to take action, for you as a customer. LiveResponse will be available to you as usual, and all your data has been transfered to our new servers, along with the rest of the application. If you have any questions, or if this migration has caused you any trouble, feel free to contact our support at any time.

Som en del i vårt fortlöpande arbete kring att utveckla och förbättra LiveResponse genomförde vi under söndagen en flytt av webbapplikationen, till servrar hos vår nya leverantör. Detta steg är en del i det arbete vi just nu genomför, för att ytterligare förstärka driftsäkerheten och säkerställa kvaliteten i den tjänst vi levererar.

Utöver en förbättrad driftsäkerhet öppnar flytten dessutom upp för att vi ytterligare ska kunna förstärka säkerheten i LiveResponse. Exakt vad dessa förbättringar består i kommer vi inte att gå in på i detta inlägg, men ytterligare information kring arbetet kommer att presenteras så snart flytten är genomförd i sin helhet, och vi har kunnat säkerställa att systemet fungerar som förväntat i den nya miljön.

För vissa kunder har flytten inneburit att LiveResponse varit otillgänglig under en tid. Till följd av Internets utformning är viss nedtid oundviklig vid den här typen av flytt. För de flesta blir tjänsten tillgänglig igen inom någon timme, men i värsta fall kan det dröja upp till ett par dygn innan man åter kan nå tjänsten. Med enkla ord kan det beskrivas som att flytten innebär att serverarna som LiveResponse körs på får en ny IP-adress. Till dess att adressändringen har hunnit nå ut till hela Internet, riskerar vissa användare att inte kunna komma åt tjänsten, på grund av att de fortfarande försöker nå LiveResponse på dess gamla IP-adress. Som användare kan du sällan göra någonting för att snabba på denna process, utan tjänsten kommer att bli tillgänglig för dig så snart din Internetleveratör uppdaterar sitt system med nya adressuppgifter.

Ovan information om adressuppgifter ska inte förväxlas med den URL du använder för att nå LiveResponse, dvs. www.liveresponse.se eller www.liveresponse.eu. Dessa kommer att förbli desamma, och du kommer att kunna nå LiveResponse på precis samma sätt som du gjort tidigare.

Flytten innebär inga förändringar för dig som kund, och allting kommer att fortsätta fungera precis som tidigare, så snart flytten slagit igenom fullt ut. Skulle du ha frågor, eller drabbas av problem till följd av flytten, är du alltid varmt välkommen att kontakta vår support.

During a conference in the Netherlands this weekend, our partner Respond presented LiveResponse for the prime minister of the Netherlands. Based on the response, we can only say that we are overwhelmed by the ambitious and successful work done by our partners.

Last week at the World Expo in China, Måns Adler at Bambuser presented LiveResponse as a good example of how mobile live video is used by professional organizations. We are delighted that LiveResponse has been presented at the World Expo and we are honored that our service is used as an example to explain the potential and relevance of mobile live video for professional organizations.

I veckan besökte LiveResponse konferensen Skadeplats 2010 i Katrineholm. Besöket var mycket positivt, och möjlighet gavs att både visa upp och prata om LiveResponse med såväl befintliga användare som intresserade konferensbesökare.

Det är inspirerande att höra hur många tankar och idéer som finns kring användning av video vid räddningsarbete, och det är framförallt denna känsla vi tar med oss hem från Katrineholm.

Samtalen med användare är något vi värdesatt högt sedan starten och är något vi självklart kommer att prioritera ännu mer framöver.
